whoa whoa whoa...........theres not just one way to set up YOUR gtus.

figure out your goals, and what you will be using it for. how extreme or how mellow do you want to go?

is it a daily driver?
do you have smooth roads or rough roads?
do you plan on autoxing? how often?
do you plan on doing open tracks? how often?
do you want it to be handle great and be comfy or handle like a race car?
do you mind loud noises other than exhaust like road noises?
do you want a loud exhaust?
do you know how much hp you want?
do you mind it being really low and have to drive sideways over speedbumps and be very careful about potholes and curbs or do you just want a tiny bit of lower so you still have good street clearance?

you don't need tons of hp to drift, and you could only get about 160-180rwhp from a n/a and still keep it streetable. There are more powerful examples however.

Skill and weight transfer plus the 160rwhp or so for drifting and track
Maybe some nitrous for straights.

GTUs is kind of a "rare" and unique model that people think should stay n/a but its your car. You can always go boosted but thats very expensive usually to even get a running boosted motor just to start with.

You can always remove weight from your car to make it lighter, GTUs' are already light to start with.
Some nice coilovers would help, Ground Control coilovers and KYB AGX's make a nice bargain setup thats fairly capable, but a matched strut to psring set will be better.
TEIN and a shitload of other companies make drift specific coilovers if thats what you want.

Is it just me, or does this only sound diff from your average rx7, but exactly like your average honda/nissan/etc?

But to be fair, there's been various 2nd gen 7 owners going towaryds that direction lately.

If you want it to be different from everyone else...........learn to drive it to its fullest. Do every autocross and drift event you can, but don't try to drift at the autocross events. Get involved with and organization like the SCCA or whatever the drifting one is. Personally, drifting is vaguely interesting to watch and it is in no way a racing event. If you want to drive your car fast then start with autocrossing then move on to time trial events.

Seat time, seat time, seat time, seat time, seat time......................

Don't think like that, honda's are great, reliable daily drivers. And the you'd never own a s2k?

Edit- To stay on topic, if you really want to drift it, keep it stock it'll do its job just great, then when you get the feel of it get some shocks/springs (I like my illumina/tanabe setup for drifting) and the dtss eliminators, camber plates also help the fc alot for drifting from what one of the instructors at the drift days told me when i've been out there.

bullhead7 I figured it out. You need 3 jobs a large pocket book a used civic dealership and own a discount tire store and a junkyard wouldent hurt. Have fun.

Ok just to be on topic.

You didn't buy one of a million copies of some economy car, you bought one of the rarest 7 ever made (if it really is a GTUs). So instead of realizing that, you seem to feel the need to be different by doing what every 18 year old honda civic/chevy truck/etc.... owner is doing.

By putting some stupid body kit (which would be any body kit that was designed for looks not superior aerodynamics, other wise any of em) on it and discarding the rims for some huge/heavy rims (no doubt) you are destroying a rare piece of 7 history (not to mention the engineering, handling etc.of your car).

Of course this is America and in this case you can do what you want (that may not be true one day, think of the numerous sites where there are strict rules dealing with the modification of historical houses). I just don't understand it. If you really have a GTUs it could probably be sold for 2x the price of a similar condition n/a, and since you plan to destroy just about everything that makes it a GTUs, you would end up with the same car for much less $$ (and 1/5 the scorn of other 7 owners) if you sold the GTUs and bought a more common 7.

I am hunting for a GTUs. That is the last car I want befor i get a FD. It is so beutifull and you wanna brake the rear end the half shafts brake u joints cambers trannys and so on. Most people here have a huge pashion for this car you dont so maybe you could understand the bitterness between 98% in the thread.

man, i gave him a little **** but you guys are too much.

if he wants a GTUs no reason not to mod it. now if he were putting a v8 in it thats one thing...................

GTUs has no sunroof, super light, lsd, good brakes and turbo seats w/ 4.3 rear end.
he wants a performance oriented fc and this is most definately the closest to track model of the s5's

what kinda money do you want to spend on this and do you have to pass emissions?

A standalone would be great because it will make more power just about no matter what. And on a N/A the tune isn't deadly.

^ BAN HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol.........i would feel the same way about any other 7 though. This drif craze is getting annoying and so is every kid that asks me if I drift my GTUs......I always tell them: "no, drifting is retarded, it's fun to do sometimes but it's all about maximum grip around the turns" and then they look at me like OMG you are just like the guy with the black skyline in initial D....the ricers have moved on from FWD and are now looking to get the cool cars like the 240, the FC and the Uber-cool-kill-any-other-car-no-matter-what corolla....errrr i mean HACHI-Roku.
