Nasty Hose on bottom, back of TB
On the bottom of the back of the TB (side that meets up with the manifold, and closest to the firewall) there is this nasty little hose that comes out and then quickly dives down. I think anyone who's done this will know what I'm talking about (it's that much fun). I cannot figure out how to remove this or how one would reinstall it! Any ideas?
Other thing: Is it even possible to remove the TB from the upper intake manifold (surge tank) without taking them both out of the engine first?
Thanks guys. (and probably Ted )

oh yah, those are a big bitch. its damn near impossible to remove the hose from the engine side without taking the upper manifold off first. And no, you cant take the TB off without removing the upper manifold.

Thanks for the response.
Okay, so I can't get the intake manifold off because it's attached to the TB, but I need to take the manifold off first to get at that hose properly? (great!) I've got everything loose and removed except that hose. What did you do to get it off?

you can take the upper intake manifold off with the throttle body as one unit. Just need to disconnect about 10 vacuum lines, throttle cable, tps connector, air temp sensor, split air solenoid connector, aws, etc.

...Yes I know I "can" do that, but that hose makes it so I can't! How do I deal with the hose? It's the only thing holding it on right now.

you get a pair of stork pliers and slide the clamp off of the hose going to the TB and then pull the hose off. You just have to reach around back and curse for awhile.

I can't get the bugger off! I've ripped a small part of the hose pushing on it with a tiny screw driver. It refuses to slide off! Anyone have any techniques for this? I'm getting to the point where I've got 2 options, cut it in half, get a new one or forget the whole thing.

You can re-route the coolant hose after no big deal, and then you never have to mess with that hose again.

u need a socket and a extension to take that off, u must remove teh intake plastic tubes before u can do this. doesnt the hose go under the mid intake manifold? which will accomplish nothign by removing the throttle body?

I rather enjoyed the CUT THE ****** OFF advice. I think that was sound advice. Who knows how long that hose has been there. Needs replacing. I've become rather adept at removing and reinstalling it. I reach in from the front while tilting the intake up from the front. Use the Stork pliers idea also. Before putting the new hose back on, clean the rust off the water nipple and put some vaseling on it prior to trying to install the hose on it.

I will definately be using vaseline. "Big or small or thick or thin, vaseline will get it in!"

Its the water hose for the thermowax in the throttle body. Mazdatrix has them, I've bought them from them before. Decent delivery times. The water enters from the rear rotor housing, goes thru the throttle body, exits the throttle body and goes to the BAc, leaves the bac and goes to the back of the water pump.
