the miata guys push around 300 HP to the flywheel on the stock tranny. Thats about it though. The t2 tranny and rear end can handle quite a bit of power. 500 +. The only time youll break stuff is if your making a ton of power and drag launching it.

The N/A engine makes more power than that, it max is like 350, of course, you have to change the tranny with all the mods you'll have in the car.

I think he was answering the question how much power can the tranny handle not the motor.

It could be done, but you'd have to live with no drivability anywere but the track, an extremely high idle, and gas milage that would make a Diablo look like an Insight

I had a 260 hp in one of my friends cars....which really wasn't mine eccept for me building it. The idle isn't too high but the problem is the damn driveability. You can't let it drop below 1k or it can't stand it. We did some tweaking and got it to stay right at 1.5k and it drove ok. She just blew up at 45,000 miles. It was a fun car and probably one of the best drifting, cornering cars that I have ever been in. Do it, it is fun if you got the funds to play, use em.
