NA tranny & rearend Q's

how much HP can an NA tranny and rearend handle?

Personally, I don't want to go over 200 at the wheels. Can it handle that or will I need to upgrade to T2 componets?

They should be able to handle it no problem provided you're not being too terribly abusive.

Thank you, my fellow Canuck.

I plan to buy this all original '90 blk/blk fully loaded vert with a new top and CD/tape radio. I want to keep her stock-ish but have some bite.

Thinking of converting her into a stock T2 vert. 200hp, top mount even the decals.....just something fun yet will pass aircare.

You a member of BCRotary?

Actually if anything, buy a TII transmission too, the NA transmission isn't very stout but the rear end is fine.

that would mean a T2 tranny to NA rear driveshaft right?

if he converts it to a Tll then yes he has to swap in the turbo tranny and rear end or use mazdatrix's turbo tranny to N/A rear end driveshaft.

Ask AaronCake and Kevin (RotaryResurrection). Both of them ran N/A tranny's on Turbo's cars (Turbo N/A and TII respectively). IIRC, they both said the N/A tranny held up far better than would be expected.

And Kevin's transmission was ripped apart. It's not that great.

And the NA driveshaft won't work with a TII transmission. It needs a custom or the before mentioned Mazdatrix driveshaft.

IIRC, it did die, but only after quite a bit of wear. I'm in no way recommending using an N/A tranny on a turbo'ed car. All I'm saying is that it's possible (mainly in regards to durability).
