Arrow NA Exhaust System

Hey all,

I'm looking to try and get an exhaust for my 1988 NA FC, as mine is blowing ever so slightly....

I've been offered a racing beat exhaust (Which is ideally what I was looking for), and it's a downpipe back system. The problem is the car its coming off is a turbo. I don't know anything more about the exhaust than this, so was hoping somebody else might have a better idea. So my questions are:

a) Would it fit my NA car? (The racing beat downpipe to my standard header)
b) Would I loose any power? (As I've seen some turbo exhausts don't hold enough back pressure for all of the valves/ports to work properly on the NA engines)

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Jon

The header would bolt up, but then you gotta make a block off plate for the turbo

I got a RB street header for n/a, i like it, but i literally sounds like an angry chainsaw when i get on it, and theres a massive drone at a steady 3K that hurts the ears a little, but i believe thats cause my magnaflow mufflers are burnt out

Theres SOME gains in the top end, but if you delete your 5th6th ports you lose alot of low end, i disabled my 5th 6th ports, but have been thinking about rigging them back up

Running an rb Street (collected) Header to deleted factory pre-silencer to extended punched stock cat to retain 5/6th Ports, to stock y-pipe to stock bosal OE style Replacements with a nice set of tips.

A tad chainsaw at WOT , but I do not get any drone in lower rpms at all. And the WOT, on mine at least, is rather enjoyable for what it is. It also pepped up the car ALOT over the factory manifold/presilencer. I am tempted to pickup the RB mufflers and leave the stock y-pipe in place for a little extra rumble. *shrug* all in the ear of the beholder I suppose.

*edit* noticed you are in UK. do the same as me but leave that cat in place. no punchy.

They are different connections. Downpipe goes to the turbo, na headers come off exhaust manifold. If you're going to try and use products not designed for their intended use I'm sure you'll be back on here later trying to troubleshoot some other issue.

Just so there's no confusion, is the system you were offered an ENTIRE system (Downpipe, Midpipe, Y-pipe and two Mufflers) or a Catback (Y-pipe and two mufflers)?

You can use the RB Y-pipe and mufflers on a N/A car as-is, it will bolt up to your stock cat with no fuss and sound good too. Racing Beat's claims of power gains are truthful, so you'll gain about 7hp just by swapping on the catback.

That's how mine was set up before the 20B conversion. With the 20B and the very same exhaust setup, nobody can tell it's modified untill I put the fun pedal down or pop the hood
