NA air filter to Cone Filter conversion

Sorry, I searched, checked the archive, but I couldn't find jack. Either I searched wrong *most likely scenario* or something. Anyway, flat mate is wanting to change is regular ol' air filter into a cone filter *I'm assuming it's one of those K&N ones...I don't claim to know whats going on :P* he was just wanting to know what needs to be done, how to do it, etc etc. Anything will be appreciated.

i just did that you need to buy a AFM to cone filter bracket they are all over ebay other then that its a direct bolt on, you will also need one of those 2"ish air breathers to put on the air pump , you might want to make a little metal bracket to hold your afm to where the air box was hanging before because if you dont it will just rub against the engine bay , i just measured out the distance took a piece of thicker aluminum , bent it in my vise and drilled 2 holes in it

if ur car is an s5, u dont need the bracket, jus get a clamp and a cone and clamp the cone on the afm

It is an S4, so looks like he's going to have some work on his hands!

Would there be an easier way of holding the filter in the air, other than building a bracket for it, or is that the easiest way?

I'd say bracket cause the stock intake is not very stable, it just sags like an old woman. U should buy an ebay intake and then go to home depot and buy a black tube rubber tube with clamps on it like..80 something cents, drill 2 holes in them and silicon the 2 lines that go to ur intake that connects with the TB, then go ahead a clamp on the ebay intake pipe. It's sturdier and its a cheap setup and it brings the bracket and the adapter for the afm

The cone filter will help the car breathe easier, but if you don't do anything else, it will be breathing hot engine compartment air. Build a cold air box around the filter to help keep hot engine air out. I fabricated mine out of aluminum flashing and used aluminum tape to attach some insulation to it. There have been frequent posts over the years about how to go about doing the cold air box thing.

I'll go ahead and search, see if I can sift. If you have anything else on that, would you mind throwing that at me?
