NA 20b?

seems like everyones talkin about 20b this and that. Anyone every heard of a NA 20b. That would be one killer all motor car. Dont you think you could get it in and running for less that $8000,minus labor. REally what would it involve. 20B, sell the manifolds and turbo. get carbs, dist, coils/ign, bigger radiator and make a header.
**** that would be unique.
What do you guys think?

Let's see, you want to take a 20B-REW which is good for 550bhp @ 1 bar with street porting, and spend several thousand dollars converting it to an NA so that you end up with either a 250-300bhp streetable engine, or a very loud, unstreetable, 450-475bhp engine. It doesn't make much sense to me unless you want to race in a non-turbo category like GT1 or all-motor drag racing. BTW, an NA 20B is the standard setup for Mazda Motorsports in the higher-displacement race classes, so it wouldn't be all that unique on the track, although it would be unique on the street or at a car show. I think you can still get an NA 20B from Mazda Motorsports, but the last time I checked it was rather expensive.

No, I don't think that you could complete this project for under $8,000. I think that $15,000 minus labor would be a better estimate for a 250-300bhp engine.

well, you also have to take into account that usualy you need a better rear end transmission and possibly drive shaft when making 500hp with a 300hp car you could use all turbo components and get away with it for cheaper unless you are already starting with a turbo car then why not go with the 20b turbo set up?

I bet that thing is slower than when he had the 13B in it. A 20B powered Toyota lightweight with only 205's out back! Talk about ice skating with tennis shoes on. He better tub or fender flare that thing quickly.

He should've just stuck with the stock twins and gone from there. It is all that sun in Austrailia that makes dem do crazy things.
