NA => TURBO Shopping list
I want a near mint '86 GXL and I'm thinking about adding a turbo. Possibly the stock turbo, possibly something a little better.
I'm trying to figure out how many parts and how expensive this job would be. In a sense, I'd like to make a shopping list of all the parts I'd want before starting this job.
So far it's:
Turbo
Manifold
Intercooler
87-8? Turbo ECU
Downpipe?
Hoses/Pipes for Air filter => Turbo => IC => Engine
(I know I'm leaving out stuff here, that's why I'm asking.)
I've looked at the FAQ, etc. I just think it would be handy to myself, and future posters if we could have a list that said:
Don't even think about it if you don't have this stuff.
(I realize there are some things that depend on how much boost you're running, like upgrading the fuel pump, injectors, etc. I just want a list or all the absolutely necessary stuff, that you shouldn't start without.)
Can my engine handle enough boost to make the effort worthwhile, or should I just do an engine swap?

I paide $2100.00 alone for the gnine that was rebuilt by Kevin Landers at www.rotaryresurrection.com has large streetport. And th car I paid $1000.00
That alone is saving you allof money. PM me for more details

Please search and read the FAQ before posting.
I want find out how hard/expensive it is to turbocharge an n/a engine. I wasn't asking how to swap in a TII motor.
I have an n/a motor in my car with 40k miles on it (& very well maintained). I don't want to swap in some random motor with 100k on it and kill my reliability.

Again you should take a look in the archive. Here it is anyways. Try searching next time.

This is all covered in the FAQ and in the archives. There are step by step instructions on how to install the TII drivetrain in an NA car, and how to turbocharge the NA engine. If you can't find them, I suggest this project is out of your capability
