n00b question... think my oil cooler is having an issue...
okay, so I finally got my car started and going halfway good
Till I noticed the oil running past my door.
Seems the leak is coming from the oil cooler connection closest to the firewall.
Is there sposed to be an o-ring or two on that bolt? I've never had one before... didn't ever have one when I took it off... WTF!?!?!?

semi-bump since it won't let me edit my post:
okay, looked through an (almost) complete gasket set... NO washers that fit the bolt... but TWO O-Rings that do fit... Do these go on the bolt?
dang, its raining here and its wetter than all hell man... i need to do some (wet) drifting while i still can...

the banjo bolt is supposed to have 2 copper washers, one on each side of the line threaded to the block. the overhaul kit does not provide those washers so don't lose the originals, if you did lose one or both you can use the aluminum washers temporarily until you can get some adequate replacements.

Make sure if you reuse them to check and see if they are warped. They are copper crush washers and one side of each one has a lip. I think it matters which side the lip goes on... I ended up destroying one that way.

they should be flat, they only have a lip because of the torque you put on them when you install them, i usually try to install them in their respective position with the lips outward but your problem was probably over torqueing them, not improper installation.

What i think is them is some silver washers... would this be from a bunch of miles worth of heat? or should i keep looking?

the silver washers are made of aluminum and i don't believe are made for the oil cooler, the kit i got is a factory kit from mazda and has silver (alum) washers that fit but i did not trust to use them on my oil cooler line. Aluminum has a lower crush threshhold and they will squeeze out/crack much easier than the original copper ones will. stick with copper but the aluminum ones will work temporarily given you don't crank down on the banjo bolt too hard.
