going to be buying winter tires and wondering what the best size is?

For winter, the narrower the tire the better

how u figure? more weight per square inch on the pavement?
I always figured fatter tires hooked up better... and so far I've always had pretty good traction...

Skinny tires cut through the snow which = better traction. Have you ever seen the tire Rally drivers use in the snow? They look like pizza cutters.

ya my 265/40-17's hook up like **** compared to my 205/50-15's
but like i said, i've never had any trouble with the former OR the latter... at least not with starting from dead stops in 2nd gear... which supposedly kills the tranny, but its a BAD HABIT i've picked up from my dad...

I couldn't and wouldn't drive my seven (s) in the winter. But I know everyone has everything slightly different then me, so IMHO use the narrow tires.
