Nope. The only differene is that the ECU retards spark under boost.

The NA ECU retards the ignition timing under load too, just like old-school vacuum advance dizzies do. But it probably doesn't have maps for positive manifold pressure, which is why pushing the boost on an NA ECU is risky...

actually i'm thinking the map is the same, but the na only uses a 1 bar map sensor, so it cant see positive manifold pressure. while the t2 has a 2 bar.

Why would it be? Since the NA never sees positive manifold pressure, there'd be no need for Mazda to put any data in the ECU for positive pressures. It'd be pretty difficult to tune the fuel and ignition settings for boost when you can't make any...
