Why not... it might cause a little more drag but you're getting more fresh air into the engine bay, and it'll cool off your intake manifold.

Definitely use it if it's aluminum.

Why not? You wouldn't be the only one around here w/ an n/a and turbo hood lol. Not me though I actually have the turbo engine underneath it but my buddies s4 is an n/a and he has turbo hood and transmission.

An aluminum TII hood in excellent shape is worth about $450. An aluminum NA hood in excellent shape is worth about $250. Trade yours for an NA aluminum hood and pocket about $200.

$450 where are you buying them... I payed 150 for mine and almost had a perfect one for $200. Yes they were both aluminum. Although I do think a good condition one like yours should be able to get $250-300 for someone looking for it in that color. I would put it on though it makes them look so much better.

If only you were closer

I had somebody offer me a primer, steel, TurboII hood for $450. To top that the hood was over 6 hours away, and he wouldn't ship it..

My vert has had an aluminum TII hood for over 6 years now, and I'm just now committing to swapping out the driveline. It looks so much more aggressive than the NA hood, so if you can get one and get it painted for a reasonable price, then go for it.

I got an aluminum turbo hood for my na late last summer - besides useful weight savings (the steel hood is HEAVY), cool air on the intake (and just generally keeping the intake cool) does make a difference in terms of responsiveness (probably also a slight HP gain, relative to a heat soaked intake side), I've found in 9 years of autocrossing the car.

It's not painted to match yet, but here's a pic someone took at a recent meet:

At first I found the scoop bulge odd to look at, especially from the driver's seat, but I've gotten to like my phony turbo look I might actually swap an S5 turbo at some point when time and money allow, so besides the fact I couldn''t track down an NA aluminum hood, that did play into my willingness to go with the turbo one.

My n/a had a half *** primered, dented, and steel hood. I found a guy with a black aluminum t2 hood with about 10 hail dents for $60. IMO it still looks better than the old n/a hood with the dents, and it's a hell of a lot lighter
