N/A Trouble .. Hard Start
wsup. i just got this 90 N/A for 300 bucks. it was a no start and I was thinking it was a flooding problem. I put some ATF in there and it started. While I pulled out the plugs, it was black and smelled like fuel so I went to the dealer and got some NGK's. Installed the spark plugs. It fired up. and once it warmed up. It overheated. The previous owner said it overheated or in his words "ran hot". First thing I did was check if there was coolant. It was low but not a lot. Next, I figure I should change the thermostat. So I went to the dealer and got a new thermostat. Installed that, and it stopped overheating. now, once everything is starting up. I took it for a test drive. It runs and drives but not a lot of power in high rpms. I wouldnt know, but I never driven a N/A. I had a T2 a long time ago. Okay, other problems.
1. It idles high and it goes up and down. and it stops that when the A/C is on or when the car is driven for a little bit.
2. Has a problem starting after a couple of days. It takes a couple of tries and a little bit of gas.
3. As of now, I do not see the coolant resiovor bowling and boiling over.
4. I havent had the time to pressure test the coolant system yet.
What should I look for? I'm probably going to try to open the radiator cap, and start the engine and see if it blows out.
Any suggestions?

Could be a misadjusted TPS causing the bouncy idle and when the AWS (accelerated warm-up system is going the idle will be around 3,000) it's bouncing around there, the BAC might need to be cleaned as well. Sounds like you may have a leaky injector causing it to flood if it sits, try running some techron through it or some other injector cleaner, see if you can fix that up. If it's not bubbling in the overflow container and not overheating, you may have yourself a nice find!

The idle is around 1000k - 1600k. I dont think its the AWS because it still fluckute even when the car is warmed up for more than 10 minutes. Could be the TPS, I'll check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
