This is covered in the 2nd gen FAQ and there are tons of threads on this, try searching...

To answer your questions it depends on how you drive and what mods you have done, I would say around 20 mpg

my 88 vert had 14...due to bad fpd and no smog pump...full exhaust with intake and mild port
87 base i had got it to 22...stock with no cats/intake

17mpg ? freaking lucky mine only gets like 8mpg since its fully bridgeported and running on the stock n/a ecu
going turbo soon so no prob

Well, I don't feel so bad anymore. I'm getting 13-15 MPG, but I thought an injector was sticking open or something...
