N/A harness with TII ecu
N/A harness with TII ecu
I am swapping a TII engine in my s4. Will my underdash harness plug into and work with the TII ecu? The engine is also a s4 and my fc came with the sport package.
yes the only thing the n/a harness doesn't have is the knock box plug in. lots of people do not use the knock box, it's not completely necessary, but if you want it go and find a t2 harness.
Your n/a tps harness plug won't reach the turboii tps. It will have to be lengthened about six to eight inches. A thirty minute job at best/worst. Three wires.
If you use the Twin Scroll Solenoid/Actuator, which is highly recommended that you do, then you'll have to lengthen two other wires to reach the solenoid. I believe it's the Split Air Solenoid wires (on the existing n/a harness), that are the ones that you'll have to lenghten.
By approx a foot. The Split Air Solenoid is located near the back of the air pump.
For the car to run, you only have to extend the tps wires like I said above. The other changes enhance performance.
I ran for a year without a knock sensor (Box). Then bought one off a wreck. You run ONE wire from the knock sensor to the KNOCK BOX. Then you have to run a wire to the box for switched power, one ground wire to it and one wire to the ECU pin 2K.
I'm not real sure I trust knock boxes. I had a SAFC connected to it. The SAFC indicated a bunch of knocks as I hit each and every pothole in the street out of my neighborhood. So I'm not trusting of knock boxes. Personal predjudice.
The box on a turbo is located on the passengers side foot well, very near the harness opening at the firewall for the emissions harness.
And a hint: The Turbo ECU REQUIRES a turbo BOOST SENSOR. It makes a difference for sure.

NOTE: I'm not really sure I understood what the original poster was asking. If he was talking about using the none turbo harness and just changing the engine, and installing a turbo ECU...or......putting in a turbo engine in a series four non turbo and using a turbo emissions harness and ECU. Emissions harness being the one that has the fuel injectors on it.
On the tps lengthening.....I'm pretty sure I had to lengthen mine to make it reach on the turbo throttle body. I used the non turbo harness. Maybe I made a mistake??? and I cut it for some other reason.
Anyway, if putting in a turbo engine and ECU then you NEED a turbo boost sensor.
