N/A Fuel Pump Rewire Question

Is the n/a rewire any diffrent from the turbo procedures? I read at http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/rewire.htm that there is no relay in n/a's???? Can somebody tell me if the procedure is any diffrent? I got my Walbro today and I want to make sure I don't **** up...

On N/A's, there is no resistor pack to drop the voltage at low load. The TII's have higher flow pumps, and need the pack to keep from running rich at low fuel usage operation by over-running the fpr. It would have been better IMO to use a better flowing fpr, but the resistor pack also keeps the pump temps low, putting less heat into the fuel.

Pretty much, you can just hard wire it and use ignition signal to turn on the relay. Unless, of course, you want to keep the AFM signal to kill the pump when the car flips...

on what?

Are you running running the stock fpr and fuel pump?

If so, then you can go ahead and run a hard wire from the battery to a relay. Run the other hard hard from the relay to the pump positive. Ground the pump negative to the chassis, and ground the relay negative to the chassis. Run switched 12V positive (RUN ignition) to switch the relay on.

If you Have upgraded pump and stock fpr, you'll need the resistor pack from a TII.

If you have any pump and an aftermarket FPR, feel free to wire as above.

I just got a walbro fuel pump and a 1:1 fpr... I need to modify my fuel rails, I am using 91 TII fuel rails. Some cutting and welding will do (I hope). I also plan on using 550cc primaries, I already got 720 secondaries... My car is turbo converted, I heard that the automatic transmission ecu has more agressive fuel maps than 5 speed n/a. My car is an 87 base model with automatic tranny turbo converted. It runs fine but it is leaning badly over 6,000 rpm. That is why I bought the walbro and the fpr. I just want to make sure about the rewire.

Hard-wire it as listed, unless you want to retain the roll-over feature.
