..... No.

Boost would be pressure over ambient. So at mos tthey see about 1 psi from the VDI...

Depends on tunning and fuel supply.. S4 n/a rotors are pretty low compression.. so you can get away pretty easy at 10psi with enough fuel and decent intercooler... there is no "max boost" the engine can handle.. it depends on tuning, air temps, fuel type.. etc.

Hope that helps.. also you will need to go stand alone as a piggy back won't be able to retard timing under boost.

Exactly. An NA engine, by definition, runs at 0 psi over ambient.
If you are wanting to know how much you can run on a boosted NA block, then its all dependent on your setup, tune, type of gas, and the size of your cajones. Generally speaking, though, they don't run as much boost as ones built for turbos since they have higher compression.

I'm glad someone understands what an N/A engine is, 14.7 pounds...

I think what rx7tuner said is what most people call a joke.
a.. "joke"

jvallo, do you actually have a turboed NA or are you asking because you might want to make one?

good luck...i highly doubt you've done enough research, i researched on here for a good two months, started buying stuff, and realized I still DIDNT know enough to do it. dont get into something you'll back out of. buy my supercharger kit and be done with it. but if you know a lot and wanna risk it. go for it, it'll be fun and you'll learn a lot you probably didnt know..just my .02

bout 10psi is doable on 91-93 octane, 15-17PSI on meth/eth injection and i would guess at least 20PSI on C16.

Buy ExSr20kidF2's supercharger. It will be cheaper and your car will actually work when you boost it.

My boosted N/A pins me to the seat on pump gas and 10PSI.
I break the tires in 2nd gear from a roll.

How long it will last........hopefully awhile.

I'm building my 13BT w/ s4 n/a rotors and a streetport

Doing a stage 2 BNR turbo and HKS stock mount intercooler.
Maybe some water injection to help the stock mount.

Going to keep boost between 8.5-12psi

The engine is either boosted (turbo, supercharger) or normally aspirated. (N/A)
It cant be both.. lol.

^^ that's just a 4 port with 9.4 rotors though, not a 6 port turbo...

I'm gonna sound like a total newbie, but i have to ask this question. I just purchased an '87 RX-7 and i don't know much about RX-7's in general, whereas, i know more about other imports. But I noticed that if i take my car up to redline when i shift i can hear a whistling/hissing sound coming from the front of the car. I can't see a turbo when i look in the engine bay, but there is a lot of crap in the way. Please help me find out if my car is n/a or turbo. Thank you.

my old automatic base made a real noisey air sound, dunno if it was the tranny or what, but ive experienced the same sort of thing in other n/a FC's.
Rotaries w/ lotsa vacuum lines and all the emissions and whatever just sound like that. Whiney.

You would know if its a turbo, intercooler sticks out like a sore thumb, the turbo is slightly hidden w/ all of the stock emissions and airbox and stuff, but the intercooler is super easy to spot. the turbo can be seen even w/ the stock BS all around

lol, nope.
Theres a power steering cooler, oil cooler, radiator.
On the autos, I forget where the tranny cooler is. Don';t know if its integrated into the radiator or what.

The intercooler is RIGHT on top of the motor, on top of the intake manifold. Says Turbo II. And has a hood scoop to match.

Just take my word that you don't have a turbo

You are likely hearing the air pump. When I hold my vert in 1st gear and let off the gas quickly its sounds like a weak blow off valve venting. Thats likely what you are hearing.
