N/A 13B suppliers/rebuilders

i posted this before, and the thread was killed.. so here it goes again:

i was browsing eBay and came across this company:

www.revolutionrotary.com
Rotary Engine Specialists

their engines seem to be inexpensive; i was considering a 'used' n/a for my dead 86 gxl, but i am curious to their reputation. has anybody had any experiences with these guys? a rebuild is out of my budget right now.. but i accept dontations

thanks

Look at www.fc3s.org They sell engines with full compression cahecks and come from cars with less than 30,000km on them. They are selling the N/A ones for $900, and the 13-BT for $1,000. I am in the process of getting $$$ to buy a 13-BT from them myself!!

wow - i havent visited that site in like a month, and now they start selling engines? i emailed Dave of fc3s.org a while back about doin a T2 conversion for my GXL, he was very helpful, i can only hope his engines are as good quality as his email correspondence.

the T2 conversion is totally out of my student budget for now, ill save that for a future time.
are you doing a conversion, or is ur engine-less car a T2 already?

also, do u know the difference between the 86-88 NA 13B's and the 89-91 NA 13B's? i know the 13BT's were changed.. would there be a problem getting one of the newer 13B's for my 86 GXL?

thanx for the info btw

The intake setup is rather different, but that's not a big deal. The big deal is that the ECU is different (meaning, you get to re-wire the engine bay), and the flywheel counterweight is different. I think you can get around that without getting the 89-91 transmission, doing some funny stuff with the flywheel.. I'm sure someone will chime in and explain what it is..

But...since you would have to rewire anyway, there really is no point in swapping in a 89+. You may as well rewire for the turbo! It's only 100$ more from fc3s.org, and you will hate yourself for not doing it..heh

Just to clarify, having discussed this with Dave, all his engines are turbo's, can't put them in place of an N/A unless you convert. The reason I bring this up is that a price is quoted of $900 for an N/A engine above, which is incorrect. That is for a turbo on his website, as are all the J-Spec eingines, I believe.

i noticed that too, i see no NA motors there.

as far as the transmission statement earlier, i need a new one anyway. i bought the car with a blown trans, threw in one from my old '82 (a temp fix, hoping it wouldnt be destroyed before i got a beefier trans), and the engine died one week after.

the price of a jspec T2 is VERY tempting, but add that to $$ for a T2 trans, then the driveshaft, halfshafts, and rear diff.. THEN ECU and wiring headaches.. my budget is blown. i considered it before.. if i had to do that, i was considering gettin a Haltech E6K and just replacing the wiring harness. budget blown double time there..

so cheapest route for me is a used 86-88 NA 13B (and trans).. which that revolutionrotary.com site sells.. but i've never heard anything about them. i just wanna get back in the car, the $500 VW GTi i bought to replace the GXL is too SLOW!

the 86 GXL rear.. too weak for a T2? is it the GTU thats all beefed up?

thanks for the correspondance guys, "More input!" - Johnny5
