Mystery bottle in engine compartment
This is on my 88 vert. I have tried to figure out what it is but am at a loss. There are two rubber hoses (one goes over to the engine, other goes to who knows). Any insights?
Tried to upload an image from my phone but that's not cooperating, found a picture via Google that is from these forums that shows the part in question. It against the firewall behind the ac condenser.

AC condenser is not on the firewall, but at the front of the car in front of the rad.
Are you perhaps referring to the sub-zero start assist reservoir? Behind the charcoal canister on the left side at the firewall?
It is designed to inject a bit of ethylene glycol into the intake manifold on extreme cold weather starts.
Remove it. Mazda issued a TSB for removal. Just disconnect, unbolt, remove the hose from the manifold and cap off the nipple.

The A/C condenser is at the front of the car. The small white bottle at the firewall (passenger side) is for coolant used during cold starts but Mazda stated later on that the device is not helpful and not needed so many removed the item, which requires plugging the tube running to the engine. The larger bottle towards the front is the coolant overflow reservoir.

It honestly doesn't matter whether it stays or goes. But Mazda issued a TSB to remove it. So since it serves no purpose (the only part on the actual car that doesn't have a purporse...unlike the idiotic trend of removing things which do, like the BAC, thermowax, etc.) why not just spend the 5 minutes and pull it off.
