i didnt mean to sound like a hater, but check out the VDI section in the FSM and you'll see exactly why its going to be very strange in a boost situation.

While the VDI may not be of much use with boost, I'm interested in what the functioning 6PI will do. I've always been curious to see how the timing change as the 5th and 6th ports come in would affect the overall torque curve, because it's not just about more air coming in, it's also about when that air comes in. Can't wait to hear the results.

I thought the reason the 6pi actuators get removes is because you can not fit the stock TII mani on there and turbo with them on. You need a custom mani like people do when they go large single to keep them.

IMO if you opend them sooner they would probably help and I think JEFF’s idea is fabulous. Now the VDI probably won’t matter anymore with boost due to bye the time they serve a purpose opening you already have plenty of boost.

Yes do indeed let us know... I am sure I am going to want more power out of my NA once I get it running and quite honestly I am thinking more and more of looking into trying to do a turbo custom job on it as opposed to a supercharger.

Anyone with thoughts on the 2 on the NA please tell me so I can have more to ponder...

Nice job tho am very interested to know how it all turns out

I've already said they're much worthless, they hinder top-end from all of the restriction they have, and their benefit is only spooling about 100rpm sooner. (shift the entire RPM band about 100 rpm sooner and cut off the top end and that's your result).

But then again, nobody believes me, regardless of what screen name I post under!

I believe you regarding the removal of the 6pi, however, this car is going to be for auto-x / street use , not drag. So for me, faster spool (even 100 rpm sooner) and a good midrange/low end are more important. I will note though, that im definitely considering switching to a Turbo2 UIM, not necessarily to eliminate the VDI, but to enable me to run a better FMIC pipe route, as the situation as of now is quite cluttered as you can see by the photo.

That flat plate surely has to be a striction, on the TB.

If you stay with this setup, I'd think you should go with the NA elbow, and use a reducer..

Just be sure to put lots of super glue / RTV on the coupler-to-elbow, if you use it, as I've heard of it not being the most efficient think to clamp to (hose popping off).

I really really want to get a new TB inlet. I hear Greddy makes a nice one (probably overpriced) and i just recently saw someone post about using the NA elbow. You can all thank Aaron Cake for the "strawberry" idea. Seems to work fine, but turbulance is probably gonna be a killer.

for the n/a elbow. . get a peice of pipe the same size as the inner diamiter of the elbow, stuff her inside and then you can clamp as hard as you like . .

ugh... here it is again... i asked about this before and no one replied.... so your saying to shove a piece of metal(exhaust) pipe into the elbow... clamping outside on the elbow to clamp and hold pipe inside of elbow... then connect coupler to the metal pipe sticking out?? did i get this right?? i had mine pop off one day and i thought i blew it up...

I don't believe that the 6 port sleeves hinder top end at all. In fact removal should make for a worse top end due to flow issues. This has been commonly accepted knowledge for the past 20 years or so and dyno proven.

That said, my sleeves are gone since they're not necessary in a turbo application.

didn't think of it that way, but that could work. But the way I have it pictured is having the metal ring inside the n/a elbow so that the n/a elbow doesn't deform when you clamp it with some pressure.

What flow issues would exist in removing the sleeves (and rods and all other associated hardware), that wouldn't exist with the sleeves in place? And who else has demonstrated completely removing all of the hardware on a back to back dyno while being turbo'ed? I noticed a change of about 10whp by removing all of the assembly, though the runs were about 5 hours apart. (S5 turbo @ 13psi), I think I even have those two dyno graphs saved at home too.

time is right!!! i started collecting parts in jan. last year(2005) and i was collecting till...well im still getting parts for it i just got my MBC and a new gasket since i bought a bum gasket for manifold to turbo....

Jeff, the world surely needs pioneers like yourself... however, I'm setting my stopwatch now to how long this thing is going to last at 13 psi on 9.7:1 rotors... what kind of tuning are you planning?
