My Tranny is Done!!!! Yippie!!!!!!

Rob at Pineapple Racing just called and my new Miata Internalled tranny is being shipped. I can't wait to wind that puppy out!!

That w/ new 6 puck clutch and a 4.3 rear-end should make me pretty quik from the light

Did you use a miata 6 speed? If so, call Rob, and tell him to start working on another tranny for you. I asked Racing Beat about this a while ago, and they replied that the tranny was simply too weak for the torque of a rotary. It works great on street miatas, but has proven to be VERY weak at the track, even with bone stock miatas. Now put it in a heavier car, with more torque, and a 6 puck clutch, and youre asking for problems.

Alright, enough being pessimistic. Good luck, and its great to see someone going through with an idea like this. I just hope it works out as you hope, and not as I expect.

i think he's talking about the 5 speed miata gearset which goes right into an n/a case. the 6 speed does not have a rotary bellhousing at this time

Mike is correct, I used the 5 speed box, along with the other mods in the box I am guaranteed it will hold 300 HP.

Well, thats pretty cool then. What are the gear ratios of the miata box? I am really interested in that now. I was going to do the TII driveline swap, but if I can get a n/a tranny to handle 300 hp, that would be awesome. How much did you pay for it, and what else did you have done to it?

You can also have 84-85 GSL-SE gears put into the 2nd gen tranny case. This will give you better acceleration in 1st thru 3rd, but the same gearing in 4th and 5th.

What mods have been done to strengthen the tranny???
