Is my tranny dead?

Whenever I drive my 87 N/A and let go of the gas the car starts to bog a bit ( this is at like 3000rpm ) and I was wondering if this is normal or not?

it doesn't feel like its gonna stall but lightly tap the gas then let go and the car bogs.

thanks

I would say depending what gear you are in. If your in a lower gear @ 3000 and let off, the car is certainly going to nosedive, but if your in 4th/5th and let off you shouldn't feel any abnormality. The car is going to slow down because of the gearing, but as I said before, it shouldn't be a strange feeling. It should react like any other vehicle. I've never experienced that reaction(TII).
Maybe someone who has an N/A might know what may be causing that feeling @ 3000.

'cause that could explain the feeling (engine braking is not nearly as strong in an automatic...)

Fill the tranny with dishsoap. Use dawn it will work better. This will clean the syncros and make it shift better.

I've driven a 5spd previous to this and a couple of my friends that drove my FC said that the trans felt a little funny as well. So I don't know what it could be.

please elaborate this soap cleansing

Nope, automatic transmissions engine brake... only thing is that in "D" range, the engine braking is fairly insignificant, (the difference can however be noticed if you shift from drive to neutral while coasting to a stop). If you shift to a lower gear while decelerating, the effects of engine braking can be felt... (look in the owners manual for this stuff... its all there )
