My TII's sunroof wont open, Help!

Well, the other day, I hit the button to open my sunroof and it seemed to tilt just fine but it would not go back any further.

When I stopped later, I tried opening it and I realized that the right side opens fine but the left side is stuck totally and therefore the whole sunroof cannot slide back.

Does anyone know why it does this and any resolutions? I have given it a firm smack, but nothing that would break it. I am guessing something is stuck but I dont know. Is this a common problem?

Please help!

I was just on a FAQ page and saw something about that.
i belive they said to try LUBE first. Something like wd-40.

it could be the motor but if i opens to a tilt - i doubt it.

Look on FAQ pages for more help - i hope i helped ya.

Thanks a lot you guys...

I havent tried any kind of lubricant yet, but I am definantly going to first.

Today I tried the manual crank with a allen wrench and that had the same effect of hitting the button:
It would tilt up on one side, but the other (driver side) is firmly jammed.

Hopefully, the grease will do the trick. Thanks again for all of the help. If anyone has any other ideas PLEASE let me hear them. I will keep you guys updated and I will likely try greasing it tommorow.

My t2 does the same thing as well. I tried a variety of lubricants and nothing seems to work. I think this is a big project to fix. I'm not sure but I think there is two motors in there and one of them burned out. The manual I have says nothing about the sun roof. If you please email me or something. This problem is realy starting bother me.

I tried lubing my sunroof with liberal amount of WD-40 and it did absolutely nothing.

Well, looks like this weekend I'll be spending a good part of my Saturday fixing and not driving.

My 88 SE does the SAME EXACT THING. The same side, too. I think mine is off track. I'm thinking about ripping it out and getting some Lexan molded in the hole. You know, for weight savings. Every pound counts....

Common problem - broken or disconnected drive cable on one side - solution - go to the wreckers and buy a complete operating sunroof assembly and substitute for yours - a long tedious job - check in archives -several posts with very detailed instructions.
