Covertible Tops...
Hi, I am new to the forum and have searched the archives up and down. I am looking for a place that deals with selling Coverible tops for a 2nd Gen. Any places sell them on line?

Convertible Tops
I LOOKED ALL OVER THE NET A FEW MONTHS AGO.
I LIKED THIS GUY AS A OPTION TO THE DEALER.
HERE IS A COPY OF eMAIL HE SENT ME.
PS: I ENDED UP BUYING A TOP FROM ebAY FOR $250, USED BUT PERFECT, WITH FRAME ALREADY INSTALLED. SHIPPING IT HOME WAS A PROBLEM. It exceed the UPS height-length test and weight limit. So I lied and said it fit their rules, and paid $75.00 to UPS to ship.

Didn't we just do this thread?
Hit the internet. Most of the big top manufacturers and retailers make both pieces for our cars, the targa and back portion.
Robbins makes a superior top and Crown does as well. Electron is another top manufacturer as is Haartz which supplies the canvas tops for MB, BMW, etc, but very pricey.
I recently found a source for Crown tops at $500 for the canvas, black. About $350 for the vinyl. Compare on the internet and you find canvas usually priced at around $8-900 if not more. Actually more if you go to a local upholstery shop.
Beware of buying a top though because unless you do the job yourself which is difficult at best especially without a manual, you will need to find a shop to install it. Most shops want to source the top for you because their profit on the top is usually obscene. One reason to buy it yourself and install it yourself.
