my TII
I just bought my first 7 today, an 88 TII 5 spd . I just wanted to ask a couple questions about things I noticed.
First off, and the NE guys can vouch for me on this one, its been about -5 all day today. Anyways, I noticed the gas pedal feels really stiff, it actualy takes an effort to push it all the way down, and it seems like there isn't enough travel. After driving the car a while it got a little better, but still seemed too stiff, is this normal for a 7? If not, what could it be? Also, on the highway, in 5th gear at low RPMs, when I put the pedal to the floor theres a little jerk, then the car starts to accelerate (seems a bit slow too) . Also, what level should the oil pressure gauge be at in a stock 7? Lastly I had to jump the car twice, but the first time was just the cold and the second time was because I didn't let it charge long enough.
Thanks for your help.

First- I'd say 5th gear is for cruising only. If you need to accelerate at low speeds, put into the proper gear eg. 3rd or 4th or will find it very slow on pick up.
Second-I'd have the battery checked. It's possible the battery is old and just doesn't have the power to start the car. Check alternator belt tension. Contrary to popular belief, that belt should be tight.
Oil pressure around 80 lbs. Gas pedal shouldn't be stiff. You'll need to get under the intercooler and check linkage etc. when it warms up. Work it by hand to see if you can find the resistance.
