We'll need some more details on your car before we can help. Mileage, condition, smooth idel, accelerates good (no power drops or power surges).
I'm assuming you mean the car is running rough or has very little acceleration.
In general, to "restore power from a poorly running car"
1. FULL TUNEUP (sparkplugs, sparkplug wires, fuel filter, change ALL fluids, verify TPS is within spec, verify throttle body is opening all the way, check for Computer Error codes (check engine light), etc..)
2. Verify catalytic converters are not clogged, replace with new
3. Clean or replace wheel bearings
Low engine Compression can cause a drop in power, but if the engine is not ultra-high mileage this is probably not the case.

FORGET turbo'ng it for right now, and address any problems that it may have. Do a full tuneup like the others have been telling you. Changing fluids, filters, re-grounding, and making sure everything is functioning correctly will benefit the car greatly, and then once you know everything has been addressed and is functioning properly, you can start modification. You, and the car will be much happier in the long run if you obey these guidelines.
As far as modification goes, READ THE FAQ, search this forum, you and a million others ask this question about a bajillion times a day, just scroll down the page and you will find someone asking something about making their car faster. Just READ, SEARCH, and RESEARCH.....

I understand it was 2 diff. people, however you addressed the original author first before 13bsav addressed you about turbo'ng his N/A. I don't think I said anything that was wrong, or out of line in my advice that would hurt your Turbo N/A idea/advice.
However, before Caliboy decides to turbo his N/A (or TII, he didn't state in his post) he should do what everyone else is telling him and do maintainance, and research and read. This way he can make informed decisions about his car, and then ask more specific questions after he knows about building an N/A car, or a Turbo car, or whatever....
