Unhappy My Rx7 is stuck in first gear

I pulled into my driveway and I was parked and I went through my gears and then it just got stuck in first. But I was able to move the shifter around and put it into 4th, 5th and Reverse but it stayed in 1st. I hope it isn't the trans. because I just put one in there not to long ago. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Thank You
David

It could have failed, due to lack of lubrication or defect. Was the transmission you put into your car used or a rebuild?

Sigh....Do you mean that you can move the shifter to the 4th, 5th and Rev positions, yet when you let out the clutch it is still in 1st?

First thing to check is the shifter itself...Loose? Damaged?

If it's OK, you might be looking at a broken or bent shift fork, meaning internal transmission problems.

Try pushing the shifter right and then down

When shifter bushing wear out it appears to be stuck, but the bushings are just so worn out
