My RPM climb is slower than usual in the 7,000-8,000 range?
I have an 1991 coupe, my spark plugs/wires are not loose, only mod is apexi power intake, i have a blend of 89-92 octane at the moment, 95% 92 octane but about half gallon of 89 was in before 9.5 of 92. nothing in the intake is loose, all of the piping/tubing in the engine is connected. I currently have 40 psi in all 4 tires, 4 under the max for stock size tires/rims. This i believe would help acceleration, reducing tire drag but just thought i would mention it I don't know if anything i said leads to any answers but thats a short summary. Watch the video below, it has two runs, I want you to pay attention to the first run, start the video @ 22 seconds and watch the rpm from 7k-redline, this is what i believe was a pretty healthy motor taking about 3 seconds to climb from 7k-8k before shifting into 3rd, now it's quite sluggish maybe 4.5 seconds but i have no video of it's current condition

well to think about it, my exhaust may be leaking, it pops while idling, little pop pop pop, not like backfire, it's the same system which has been on there since 91 so i wouldn't be surprised if it's shot. corksport header back is on my mind... i'm not 100% sure with the aux ports, i think so, i have an s5 so the simpler grease method wont work. i checked the solenoid valve the other day by blowing through one port and checking for air on the other while electricity was flowing through the terminals (haynes automotive manual). thats "half" of it, next i need to check the actuator which is a little more complicated. ill check the vdi as well, thanks (the video above was from a while back, my car when it was healthier)

yea it's not too loud, only when idling, i think my exhaust is leaking and affecting top end, the rpm will almost stall about 700-500 away from 8k/redline, so yea thats my hypothesis but im still gonna do checks on the vdi and aux ports

the 87 octane is better because higher octane burns at a higher temperature and since i have an NA it doesn't get as hot as a turbo and my 92 costco brand will burn slower because of the lower temp. ill go redline my car after i get some 87 and have been on it for about a half tank so there's no mix. now i know but thanks for pointing that out durtled.
