Question My rebuild boggs out / backfires, I need help?

My motor I just rebuilt has a large street port in it. I am having trouble starting it by cranking it over, I can get it started by pull starting it but then when I drive it its kind of shakey like its missing or bogging especially when I get near the 4k rmp mark. ot also backfiring like non other. i think that is due to the timing being a little advanced. but I need to play with that some more. but the other night I was driving it and its was smoother than cake. so could an injector harness popping off or something cause this or an unmetered air leak too. also any rebuild starting tips would be appreciated too.
Thanks

my rebuild popped like mad until I had about 450-500 miles on it. as far as the bogging and the hard starting is concerned....I'd say the CAS isn't aligned correctly. we had to re-stab the CAS when we started my rebuild for the first time...hell, we couldn't get the damn thing timed properly because my TPS is fragged...

I'll tell you what I was told. don't take it past 4k. be easy on it for about 1000 miles then you can start introducing more throttle as you get closer to 1500 miles...

when u shut it off try revving it to 3k holding it at 3k then turning the key off, that mite help it start better..as far as the other problems look into timing and tps

huh, ok I will try that. isnt that similar to the fuel cutoff switch. like flipping the switch and letting the car die from fuel starvation then turn off the electrical systems?

yes, the point of that is to try get as much fuel burned as possible, so when u go to start it it wont flood out, i never had flooding probs with my engine, but that is a good idea to reduce flooding
