Talking my new rebuild started!

Kind of. I didn't have any ATF so I squirted a little 5w30 in each housing and finally got it to run a little bit, it runs terrible, and won't even think about idling, but it's nice to hear it roar to life finally.

How bad did your rebuild run at first? I have one vacuum line I don't know what to do with so it's closed off for now, everything else seems OK. I kept it about 3000 RPM because anything lower than that got a little iffy. Hopefully I didn't damage anything by revving it that high right off the bat.

It smoked so bad it set off the smoke alarms so I have to move it outside and start it again tomorrow and try to keep it running then. No oil or coolant leaks that I can see though.

the quesion now is, how long until it needs another rebuild. I think if/when this engine pops it's time for an LS1 swap, this was WAY too much work
