My New Alternator Charging Wires
I couldn't find any replacement alternator charging wires, so I made some. I bought the wire on ebay for 10 bucks, including shipping. Its actually "amplifier" wire, but, its good 8 guage stuff. The wire is thicker than the stock stuff it replaced, but not that much. Anyway, I was able to get the ring terminals locally and soldered them on...just to be sure. I put these on, drove the car and everything was great. I got home, got out the meter and read 14.25 volts across the system.
The wire with the black stuff on the end has heat shrink on it, thats the one with the female disconnect that goes to the inside fuse box. The one with the bare end is the jumper from the battery to the main fuse, and the last one with the two ring connectors goes from the alt to the other side of the main fuse.
All in all, I think this project cost me about $12.00 and about an hour of my time.
Let me know what you think.
