Thats pretty much what mine sounded like only it wouldnt rev over 3grand. I havent had it torn apart yet to see what happened. I probly wouldnt keep starting it though, if its a apex it will eat **** up, turbo included.

I've seen fried plugs make 'em run like that but I would check everything. Stop running it though until you know for sure it's not an apex. Do a compression check.

Looks and sounds like my old n/a motor when I blew coolant seals. White smoke and all.

Does the smoke smell sweet?

Or does it smell rich?

My N/A would do that in the winter when it was freeze-your-*****-off-cold outside.

Smelled like it was running really damn rich BTW.... I never did smell any coolant.

yeah, I would check the plugs, plug wires, ignitors, etc. If it gets to a smooth rev at some point, I think that it might not be a blown motor. When I blew an apex seal, it sounded like my lawn mower, with less horsepower.

Sounds and looks like its running EXTREMELY rich for some reason. Check for fuel leaks. Mine ran the EXACT same way when fuel was spewing out of my primary fuel rail. White smoke and all! Mine has a haltech as well. What mods do you have done to the car? Stock ECU? If you dont have a compression tester, do the poor mans compression test. Take out all the spark plugs, and crank the engine. You should hear equal strong pulses on each face of the rotor (6 times). If you hear a weak pulse, you need a rebuild or a new engine. :/

well i just went out there and the front rotor sounds all good but the rear one sounds like it may be weak but they are very close so its hard to tell without a comp tester

It seems to be maybe a wiring or vacuum problem IMO. The timing could be it though. It just seems that when you run it... it sounds like it's very rich. Seems to have that nice "pop" like it should.

Am I making any sence?

A timing light is something you should invest in... It will help you years down the road... An RX-7 isn't the kinda car you buy and take to the shop.
