well... theres ways to check dude.

also, i would check for vacuum leaks first.

666mike666 08-26-07 09:27 PM

as far as i can see no vac leaks

BRYERS 08-26-07 09:37 PM

Sounds Like No Back Pressure

siguy2k 08-26-07 09:37 PM

Thats pretty much what mine sounded like only it wouldnt rev over 3grand. I havent had it torn apart yet to see what happened. I probly wouldnt keep starting it though, if its a apex it will eat shit up, turbo included.

666mike666 08-26-07 09:43 PM

ya i dont have a cluster or anything hooked up so idk what rpm it goes to but it seems pretty high

NeilTII 08-26-07 09:57 PM

I've seen fried plugs make 'em run like that but I would check everything. Stop running it though until you know for sure it's not an apex. Do a compression check.

Looks and sounds like my old n/a motor when I blew coolant seals. White smoke and all.

DaBrkddy 08-26-07 10:16 PM

Does the smoke smell sweet?

Or does it smell rich?

DaBrkddy 08-26-07 10:18 PM

My N/A would do that in the winter when it was freeze-your-balls-off-cold outside.

Smelled like it was running really damn rich BTW.... I never did smell any coolant.

K-Tune 08-26-07 10:22 PM

doesnt sound blown to me.

would rev much slower.

DaBrkddy 08-26-07 10:24 PM

Yeah... it sounds really nice!

"Brap brap brap...." Beautiful.

Drivarotor 08-26-07 10:24 PM

yeah, I would check the plugs, plug wires, ignitors, etc. If it gets to a smooth rev at some point, I think that it might not be a blown motor. When I blew an apex seal, it sounded like my lawn mower, with less horsepower.

FrankV702 08-26-07 10:29 PM

Sounds and looks like its running EXTREMELY rich for some reason. Check for fuel leaks. Mine ran the EXACT same way when fuel was spewing out of my primary fuel rail. White smoke and all! Mine has a haltech as well. What mods do you have done to the car? Stock ECU? If you dont have a compression tester, do the poor mans compression test. Take out all the spark plugs, and crank the engine. You should hear equal strong pulses on each face of the rotor (6 times). If you hear a weak pulse, you need a rebuild or a new engine. :/

666mike666 08-26-07 10:33 PM

all the plugs wires and stuff are fine juss changed them running stock ecu....im gonna get a comp tester as soon as i can to fined out for sure and it smells super rich

FrankV702 08-26-07 10:39 PM

Try the poor mans compression test right now!! :)

666mike666 08-26-07 10:40 PM

well i just went out there and the front rotor sounds all good but the rear one sounds like it may be weak but they are very close so its hard to tell without a comp tester

FrankV702 08-26-07 10:59 PM

Take a vid again of it.

turboIIrotary 08-26-07 11:07 PM

is your timing off?

666mike666 08-26-07 11:13 PM

i dont know cuz i dont got the tools to check if the timing is off

DaBrkddy 08-26-07 11:17 PM

It seems to be maybe a wiring or vacuum problem IMO. The timing could be it though. It just seems that when you run it... it sounds like it's very rich. Seems to have that nice "pop" like it should.

Am I making any sence?

DaBrkddy 08-26-07 11:19 PM

A timing light is something you should invest in... It will help you years down the road... An RX-7 isn't the kinda car you buy and take to the shop.

666mike666 08-26-07 11:24 PM

ok soo i need i timing light and a comp tester....and the engine wiring harness is cut and hacked like u wouldnt belive so the could be a problem
