Cool My little wishlist

The time has come! I am finally going to get to start modding my car a little. I dont have the money to do anything huge, but on the list are as follows

Intake - possibly from Asstech racing. any reviews folks?

Bonez cat-back
RP 50mm exhaust
ACT clutch, maybe something else. undecided
Pulley upgrades, or are they even needed?
Full brake package
Suspension package

Nothing is in stone, and the last 2 are a few more months away. Anything else significant worthwhile doing? Would someone with a similar setup give a little feedback, how much power can I expect to get out of this. My car just passed 100K so I am assuming that my cat is starting to clog a bit anyway. Final step would be to get a decent set of rims, and when I blow the engine, or when I get too antsy, a full TIIswap.

Thanks as always for the feedback.

Just playing devils advocate here. Before you start modding your car, I'd seriously recommend that you make sure everything Is repaired/corrected/replaced as needed, If anything. That was my mistake back In the day. Their Is no sense In having a highlighted car still running rough due to over looking general maintanence or repairs.

Maybe shuffle the priority.
Thorough check for coolant & fuel leaks.
Test the aux ports & VDI.
Synthetic gear oil in the tranny.
If over 120000 mi, check the fan clutch.

Best bang for the buck mod- a header.
Then exhaust.
Then intake.

Suspension can be done anytime.

Pulleys don't do much unless you are removing the air pump & keeping the stock fan. Then you will want a double alternator pulley.

Yea this mod list is all goin to happen after i do a few things. I didnt talk about the repairs that im doing because i already know what im doing and that i have to do them. In a week im putting in a new clutch, fixing my diff mount, vac lines, rear ebrake cables are broke, i have to get a new shift boot, both my stupid auto seat belts are jammed, gotta take apart the dorr and clean / lube the windows, prolly going to put in new belts cause they squeak. While this isnt a definate ordered list it is just some tentative plans down on paper.

What is a pulsation dampener?

Does anyone else agree that a header system would be a better buy then others?

Thnx guys

Pulsation damper: A device on the fuel rail (primary on your S5) made of a small chamber with a rubber diaphragm inside. Tends to leak & spray fuel after 100000 miles or so.

Header- Most will agree RB is best.

I was on a tight budget, so I got the $80 kit from Mazdatrix & had it welded up when I replaceds the whole system. (barn in the woods muffler shop)
There are pictures and a sound clip linked in my sig below.

We are working on the price page but I can basically tell you: N/a intake will be 180 dollars and up. TII intake will be 150 and up. yes they are different. For any further questions you can PM or IM me. I will be happy to discuss this with you in private.

The reason its more expensive is because its a real cold air intake. It would compare in performance to the check point intake which is one of the few real cold air intakes other than ours and theirs costs 250 dollars and its a smaller diamiter pipe BTW. Their new kits are 2.5" and ours are 3".

Hey when replacing the trans fluid, don't forget to make sure you can loosen and remove the top fill plug before you open the drain plug. Same goes for the rear diff fluid. Don't ask me how I know to warn you about this.

$100-$150 for a S4 PD
$150-$200 for a S5 PD

Of course that is without the labor or injector gaskets or intake manifold gaskets if you do it right.

And it should be replaced (regardless of series) every 10 years or 100k miles without fail.
