Why always so negative? Never heard of fix a flat. Worked great for me.

Some of my data. Flip through the previous pages to see specifics. And I still have my OE spare tire

http://www.negative-camber.org/crisp...c/fcstatus.htm

My current project is the removal of of all the sound deadening tar and the firewall sound deadening "pad" -
total additional weight savings about 25lbs.

This puts me at about 180lbs of weigth savings for a car still with a complete interior (minus soundsystem tho) and spare tire and tools.

Regards,
Crispy

Nice job. You know you like the way it feels to drive it now that it is lighter, and you know you are going to remove more stuff.

Getting mine down to 2400ish made it feel very snappy, and I want more of that race car feel. Out with the interior!

Why not make some LIGHTER tow hooks instead of removing them?

I just don't understand people driving around with no spare tire, jack, or tow hooks.

how many freaking times do i have to explain this... i took off the front tow hooks only, the rear ones are still there so i can be towed just fine.. besides, if they towed me up onto a flatbed from the front my bumper would probably scrape going onto it cuz its lowered... second, i have a AAA membership, a spare tire and junk aren't needed, because if i get a flat i can simply call them and be towed home

And even if fix-a-flat works, your tire will still need air in it to drive on...
fix a flat is bad for your rims I heard. not to mention most tire places will not work on your tire if you put that in it, at least around here.

weight reduction can be anythign from mild to wild. Depends on the person and the application. Some ppl dont' mind it.

I prolly took 1-2 hundred pounds off my FC. I dont 'have a spare but i have brand new tires and i still hope i dont get a flat b/c that would suck.

My 3rd gen is going to be my daily driver and i will do no weight reductions besides ac/pws.

I won't hunt for excess weight b/c these cars are made light. If it sticks out i wont' have a reservation to take it out. Aluminum parts is just one indication of the thought put into them.

My daily driver will have creature comforts.

I also though i would never want a catalitic converter.....

i'm prolly just getting a bit older and softer

keep turn'n wrenches. That's really what's it about.

I'm with you on the weight redux thing. My GTU is soon to be my daily driver, and I'm ripping crap off of it left and right. However, I won't go without a nice looking interior and some music. I've done what you have, including spare tire (Once I run out of AAA tows, I might find an enkei spare and throw that in, until then, that's weight I don't need).

As for taking off the towhooks, I agree the front needs to come off (suspension soon, CS front nose now), also, I probably shaved a pound or 2 making the holes in the rear towhooks bigger (most of my tow-hooks wouldn't fit)

Also, have you taken anything out behind the nose? I've taken mine off, and it probably weighed in at 20#. It, among other things will probably stay off.

Do you intend to keep everything behind the bumper on your dieting FC?

Well, it depends on what you're talking about behind the bumper (bumper cover or what?)... cuz I wouldnt really want to remove the bumper support, i mean if i get in a crash ever for whatever reason in the front end i'd really screw some stuff up without the support. What were you referring to behind it?

n/a spare (4 lug) is 25 lbs guys, just weighed mine couple a weeks ago when I took it out , think I gained at least 10 hp!!! LOL...gonna put it back in when I get some decent struts on the back, is kinda silly to take it out for that .025 sec in the 1/4 mile!
