My Headlights Hit The Hood...HELP!!!

Hey guys, I have just started noticing my headlights are scraping the hood when they pop up. They make the most horrible sound and the paint got chipped off. What can I do to fix this? Is it hard to do. I was wondering if I could do it myself? This happen to anyone else?

Question Hmm

I have never heard of that. I checked mine out after I read this. Don't even know how that is possible. Sounds quite strange.:1party:

You could just make your own non-pop up lights with a bit of work, do a search on them.

hitting where on the hood? Is it possible your hood has slipped a bit? Is is lined-up right with the rest of the car? Or is the headlight tweeked somehow?

Is it hitting on both sides or just one? If it's only on one side, check the hood mounting on that side first, if it's both check both sides. got any pics of the damage so we can get a better idea of what is happening? Do the lights sit below the hood when down?

Until you fix it, just leave your lights down and click the high beams. Use your FTPs like god intended. Of course, you'll have to do the sleepy-lights mod...

I always leave my headlights down when I'm in town. Get out on a highway and you can't see ****, but in town it's all good.

And your 7 will look sharper, too.

You could wait just a little while longer for my non-pop-up style lights!

OK, allow me to expound. When the lights flip up, the top inside corners are rubbing against the hood. So basically the top of the lights are hitting the cutouts in the hood. They never used to do this so I'm assuming they can be adjusted. I'd like to do it myself if possible. I'm not that good with the tools but I don't want to take it to a mechanic.

My inner semi-destructive urgings suggest using a hammer or mallet or whatever to tap the latches and mounts of the lights a wee bit so that the covers will clear the corners...
