My gas guage went out..WTF?

I have a similar problem, only mine sorta works. When I fill up it goes to quarter tank insted of just over full like it used to. So I figured it was a quarter tank off but when it gets to E I get nervous and fill it and it takes ~13 gallons. The gas light'll come on occasionally.
What do you think, tank floater, gauge or sending unit?

I searched on this before. Bad sender (in fuel tank), wires/connector (corred and/or loose), or gauge. A bad sender makes sit drop to E at a certain point. Bad wires and/or connectors keeps it from going all the way to F. Mine has a bad sender and it suddenly drops to a little below E whenever I have less than 3/4 of a tank.
I'd guess either a disconnected/loose connector or, if it really is way below E, maybe it is the gauge mechanics.
