my fc s eating too much gas!!!!
i hav a s4 na fc and i feel its eating alot of gas. $10 bucks lasts only for 3 days from school to work wich is about 5 miles. i heard it might be myu pulsation damper because i smell gas after i go for a drive. well i dont know where that pulsation damper is located. i havent driven my fc because of high gas prices and the fear that it might caught on fire due to the gas i smell which means its leaking somwhere. i need!!!!

j/k,
the pulsation dampener is on the fuel rail located underneath your Upper Intake Manifold (UIM). I forget which fuel rail is which, but I'm pretty sure it's on the higher elevated of the two... (lol). Either way, if you pull off the UIM you'll be able to see it. It's got an ugly yellow-ish bonnet deal over the end of it.
So, what you're saying is, you smell raw fuel coming from your engine bay?
Unless you have a major fuel leak, your bad gas milage is somewhat typical to these cars. It could be several things, but you should expect around 15mpg in the city and around 20 on the highway.
I personally get 12.7mpg doing mixed hard/daily driving. I've got a slightly mod'd TII though. You should get better gas milage with an N/A.
If you're saying that you travel 10 miles a day (there and back) X 3 days, that's 30 miles. $10 will get you 4 gallons (or so)... So yeah, you're getting unusually bad MPG, lol.
Good luck fixing your problem.
BTW, you use low octane fuel, correct? (it's better for the N/A's)

Do not drive the car until you identify the cause of the gas smell. Pulsation damper failure is the single most common cause of engine bay fires. Download a Factory Service Manual and replace the damper if you are certain that is the leak.

Cars dont eat man.. more like destroy gas.. see how an engine works is it burns fuel and uses the explosion in order to make the rotors in your engine spin which makes your eccentric shaft spin which is connected to you flywheel, which then goes to your transmission and then to your drive shaft and into the rear end. From the rear end it goes to the half shafts and those go into the hubs and then finally the wheels. The wheels which of course have rubber tires, contact the ground and make traction. As you can see this whole process REQUIRES for you to put gas into your car. Therefor, you NEED gas to make the wheels on your car turn.

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR if you smell gas in the engine compartment at anytime.

I'd say thats normal.. 10 bucks in 3 days with little driving, I assume you start the car alot.. do you drive it cold? that eats alot of gas.
just because it's a small engine, dosent mean it sips gas!.. I get average 320km city driving on a full tank.. 450-500+ highway, on those long stratght trips.
