My FC with blown engine

Hello Everyone

I have an 87 non-turbo fc with a very minty fresh body but I blown engine. I was wondering what my options are for having it rebuilt/replaced. Unfortunately I need a shop to do the work for me. I would also like to get it ported mildly while the engine it out. Has anyone gone through this before and can quote a rough price? I'm in the Toronto Area. Thanks everyone.

theres no telling what a "rough" price would be, it all depends on how the internals are, which there is no way of knowing until its tore apart. IF all internals are ok, probably figure about 2K (US dollars) if internals are in rough shape, could shoot from 3K to 6K depending on what it needs. I don't know of any reputable shops in your area, but I'm sure someone will chime in and tell you

Go to the top of the CDN SECTION and cruise the shops available.

Iduley is right.

Let's say everything took a **** and the only thing you can salvage is the rotors and the eccentric shaft, around $6,500 USD.

Rebuilding is good option if you have the money but most people try to find j-spec motors, they are getting hard to find. you need to have the engine torn down and see what you can re-use. you will need to make a list on what you need and start looking around, there are deals to be made but you got to look for them. forums, ebay, craigslist etc. also there are plenty of people that can rebuild also instead of a shop that in most cases cost you more money in labor.

J spec engines are turbo only. The OPs car is NA, so if he is willing to swap at the same time, it's an option but J spec engines are know to arrive in bad shape

How do you know it's blown? Symptoms and diagnosis details. Maybe it's not...
