This came from that he was being like felixwankel88, and posting pictures of insignificant things that we've all seen a million times before (gasket sets/etc), and i was making fun of him. Damn n00bs.

What's that? Mr. my rx7's are thousands of miles away from me and I can't finish my own bridgeport project? Jealous?

It's all in good fun, James.

My current engine already has no diffusers (ground off) with an RB header, straight through borla midpipe, and some POS ebay straight through muflers. I also ran straight pipe instead of the borla at one point, don't worry I've made my peace with "loud."

What's wrong with Turbo

And who ever said this engine was going to STAY n/a? I don't know where it's going, but if my demands aren't met, you'll be seeing some form of forced induction.

That's peace, n00b!

Yes, it is all in good fun, and yes, jealousy is a driving factor since I can't do **** with my own car. Amusing while it lasted however!

- S5 n/a rotors
- S5 n/a irons, porting scheme not fully decided yet
- RB oil pan baffle
- RA apex seals
- FD corner springs
- New solid corner seals
- Atkins viton oil rings
- New t/o bearing
- New pilot bearing/seal
- New front/rear main seals
- New front regulator spring
- New oil cooler spring/thermostat
- E-shaft oil jets mod (weber #200's)
- Racing Beat main underdrive pulley
- Aluminum flywheel
- ACT clutch
- Megasquirt with new spark application
- Deciding on manifold setup still
- Hopefully 9k rpm operation without too much power dropoff
- S4 front cover/waterpump

I think that's everything.

heh, nothing wrong with turbo.

it's just that there are more people building good turbo engines than people building good non-turbo engines. for good reasons i guess, more power, cheaper, blah blah, lol

true, there are few better engines to turbocharge than the 13b, but i still really like the NA powerband, and it's all about working on the details and getting everything to work together, not just seeing how much boost and power you can get...not to mention i feel more comfortable beating the hell out of an NA

derek1987 - I got $17k for my old SUV as a trade-in for the RX8 and am financing the rest on my dad's teacher (his a high school teacher) program, in my state school teacher's get a really low interest rate on loans. Plus my RX8 was a base model with the bare minimum options (I wanted the lightest one possible) so it wasn't too bad money-wise after the trade-in. RX7 I bought straight out with cash 2 years ago, so no payments for that, and my college is completely taken care of by a trust fund my grandfather left me when he died. As for the parts, the car I got the engine I'm building from I got for free and parted it out for about over a grand and got to keep the engine. Things just seem to work out nicely for me I guess

coldfire - It'll be N/A for a good while and I'll be tuning my standalone for N/A. I've been spending all my time and money on the RX7 so after this build and a few misc things, I'll be looking at my RX8 for a bit

If it doesn't work out for the power and 1/4 mile times I want, then I'll most likely for forced induction in some form, either supercharger, turbo, or nitrous. More likely nitrous first, turbo second, and supercharger if I feel like a big project.

This thread is awesome, lots of good info. It should be stick'ed.

My brother saw that same yellow stuff when he tore apart his S5 engine- what is it? Coolant/oil mixing from oil seal failure? or just coolant deposits?

The sludgy mud crap? Yah that was coolant/oil mix from some seal failures in the engine.

More will come to this thread too, as I port and assemble the motor. I'll update as new things develope, but I still need to go to Atkins for a few other pieces and then port.

Lucky you!

Good luck with the build....I want to start a project.... Well, I just may be start one if I could ever go look at the 87 base with a blown oil seal.......

Only cleaned the rotors really with the purple stuff, I did some light scrubbing on the outside of some other stuff, but nothing much really.

The irons need to be lapped if they are out of spec or very close to being out of spec, check the FSM for procedures and numbers to check it.

Yeah...it is important to use those smilies or atleast tell people when you are joking....because I thought you were being serious Sonic.

I personally appreciate all the pics he is posting..as I will be following this for my personal rebuild in the near future (hopefully).

Keep up the good work Dub.

Bringing this back to give a BIG thank you to Atkins Rotary, but more specifically, Dan Atkins!

I made a trip to Atkins Rotary today to pick up the last few parts I needed and at the same time Dan hooked me up. He pressed in my new rotor bearings for me and sold me, for a great price, an e-shaft that wasn't slightly fubared like mine! E-shaft came with a nicely cleaned front pulley bolt and flywheel nut, gold looks awesome

Anyways, check out these rotor bearings, look at the huge oil groove! Gotta love race bearings.

Now that I have my new e-shaft I can finish off the oil jets. So take out the stock oil jets (earlier in the thread I showed how to install the weber jet into the e-shaft).

Take out the stock ball/spring and toss it! You wont be using them anymore. The weber 200 jet will take care of things, however be warned that idle oil pressure will be lower on a stock oil system, take this into consideration. Usually a higher flow OPR can help it a bit.

Then put some thread locker on and firmly screw the jet back into the shaft. You're good to go!

Also, in the mail yesterday came my second housing, looks pretty damn new huh?

I'll be using that in the rear since it is a lot newer than my other housing and the rear wears faster, that'll make for a longer lasting engine hopefully.

Again, thanks Dan!

It made perfect sense to who it was directed to, dDub. He knew EXACTLY what I meant before I had to make it obvious for you damn n00bs.
