But this I've learned so much from this thread! It hurts to see it end like this.. so dDub, did you get rid of the motor you were building or do you think you could use that when you find your 1st gen?

I have a different plan for an engine when I get my 1st gen. I want something simpler, more streetable, not as.... loud.

Long story short, I'll be using an s5 TII block with s5 NA rotors, a streetport porting style for NA (meaning designed for no forced induction), s5 TII LIM with FD UIM and TB, standalone (probably microtech), and so on.

So no I wont be using that same engine.

Interesting.. so what makes you think all these forced induction manifolds will work better than the ones designed for naturally aspirated applications? I'm sure you've done your research, I'd just like to see it!

For one, I will be using a 4 port block... Not very easy or good to use a 6port n/a manifold on a 4port turbo block.

Second, from flowtesting I've seen they appear to flow much better. Less bends, larger runners, etc.

Didn't even think about the intake port issue. And, if for some reason it doesn't work out NA, you'll be in great position to slap a turbo on the side of it. =)

And about your decision to use microtech, what turned you away from megasquirt? I'm trying to map out my modification plans on my upcoming TII and MSnS works very well into my budget. But if all your trial and error didn't pay off for you, then I doubt it would for me. After your experience with the system, what are your thoughts on it?

No slapping a turbo on would be a bad idea. Like I said, the port design I will be using is meant for NON-TURBO, it is not a turbo style port. While it will work with turbo, it will not work as efficiently as it should. Besides, I don't want turbo, I prefer staying n/a.

Honestly, just the ease of it. The MS I had to build a harness for and fuses and all sorts of crap. Took quite a long time and was very annoying since I hate soldering. A microtech will come with a harness, much quicker and easier in my opinion. The MS is great, cheap, and easy to use, but I'm going to go with simplicity overall next time.

Thanks for the insight on the EMS issue.. I hate soldering as well and I'm not sure that I'd have the patience for the thing. Not to mention I don't know a thing about tuning and would probably blow at least one motor learning how. I'll probably just run a piggy-back for a few years until I lock down a nice job and can afford the 1k+ EMS.

I'm looking forward to seeing your NA dialed in with a nice standalone, should be interesting!
