Unhappy Is my engine blown?

First of all my car is a 91 t2 swap from a former GXL.

So yesterday I was driving on the freeway at about 60-70 mph. All of a sudden I lose all power and my car just slows to a stop and I move to the emergency shoulder.

There was very minimal steam coming from the engine bay. Could have been because it was cold that night anyways.

Anywho when I popped the hood I realized that one of the spark plug boots had blown off. I believe it was the second trailing boot. Or was it the Second leading. The second the rotor closer to the driver right?

So it just shot off I believe. I tried cranking the engine to see if it still sparked. It did slightly but not strong enough.

I tried plugging it back in and cranking the engine. When I turned the key all I heard was the engine spinning. But it refused to come on. As if there was no spark.

Also right by the oil cap was another thing that had come off and was steaming a bit. It looks like a cap like thing with a hose coming out of the top. It's located right under the stock TMIC.

It had blown off and I guess oil runs through it. We tried push starting it and it would almost catch but a small puff of white smoke blew out the back. Again I believe it was because it was cold.

Now my question is...did I blow the motor or could I have just flooded the engine when the spark plug boot came off.

Known problems at the time:

-I had just fixed a small leak in oil cooler line. (It wasn't properly tightened)

-Car was almost two quarts oil low. I was on my way home from a friends home because I had a case of oil.

-Starter is going out. (Starter would engage sometimes, and other times it wouldnt.)

-I think the battery died because I kept trying to turn the starter over.

-Slight vacuum leak coming from what i think is the UIM. Because i've checked for every possible open line.

Now when I think the starter WOULD engage. Again it sounded like there was no spark. It would sound as it would turn but nothing to come of it. Not even like it was trying to start. Just made a flat sound like it was turning but nothing. The fan turned and all but nothing.

Another thing I think could be the problem is the alternator. Could it have gone out and drained my battery? But how would that account for the car not wanting to turn when it was being jumped?

So today I changed the plugs and wires. And recharged the battery. I've yet to put the battery back in and try to engage it. and won't be able to do so until tuesday.

So my question is...does it sound closer to being flooded or blown?

Any thoughts would be highly appriciated. I've only driven the motor for about 1000 miles and don't want to have it sent in for a rebuild.

*You were 2 quarts low on oil.... you HAD extra oil on you.... and you didn't put it in for what reason? What made you think 2 quarts low was okay?

*Spark plug boots don't blow off.

How do your fluids look? Full? The right color/thickness?

You haven't done enough investigation on your car yet to determine if its flooded or blown... but cars don't flood while you are driving them.

No I was going home to get some oil because I didn't have money on me.
I since then added the proper level of oil. and i'm using 10w40.
And I don't know what happened.

Like I said one minute i'm driving smoothly on the freeway, next thing I know the car just loses all power. I'm assuming it was from the low oil.

Although I've still been using the stock na fuel pump because i havent gotten around to buying my walbro

Is something wrong with your oil level sensor?
It should've been BUZZING LIKE HELL!

How do you figure? This isn't a honda or ford 460 with hydraulic lifters or anything... Low oil doesn't make it have low power. It will however, make you have low lubrication, and therefore blow your engine.

I also asked how your fluids were... not just your oil... Hows the coolant?

Ted-Dude. My buzzer only works when it feels like it. So I have to check all the fluids manually.

Micaheli- All fluids except for oil were full. The coolant was at capacity.

here is a suggestion take out the leading spark plugs ONE at a time along with the egi inj. and head fuses. then turn try to start the motor have a freind listen to the compression of both rotors 1 at a time. then u can tell if ur motor is blown. mine did the same thing the rear rotor poped but i was able to drive with 1 rotor back to my house.

Do a poor man's compression test to see if you're even getting compression in the motor.

Eek.. You need to fix that!

You really need to do a compression test... However, oil starvation is worse than just blowing an oil seal or sometihng.. it can take out bearings, your oil pump, apex seals, oil o-rings, oil control rings, turbo, etc...

Actually, if you oil-starved your turbo, that would give you a lack of power like nothing else if the bearings seized up or something. It would be trying to force exhaust AND intake past a stationary turbo impeller.

if your running the omp i wonder if the low oil could have starved the rotors or oil? good luck hope its nothing to made. hopefully your just over looking something. did you try checking for codes?... that would be a damn shame if low oil is the cause.... remember kids basic maintance is important
