My car sucks and so do I...
I decided to take my car down to the 1/4 mile track last night to see what it would do. It turned out to not be a very good night for either of us.
The car and mods are as follows:
88 'vert, Turbo II drivetrain, S5 rotors, engine rebuilt (< 3000 mi) and streetport, all emissions removed, TB mod, 9.5# aluminum flywheel, S-AFC (not dynotuned), 3" exhaust down to the y, 2.5" out through magnaflow straight through mufflers
I have kept the stock airbox and TID to keep the boost down. I am seeing 8-9lbs of boost at roughly 5k rpms down to about 5lbs at redline. I have not installed the walboro pump yet as I have been running extremely rich since the conversion. The S-AFC is leaned out on the bottom and mid ranges to about +3 at 7k rpms.
OK. I had 6 runs last night. I missed 2nd gear once and 3rd gear 3 times. That should cover the "I suck" part. Here are the times for the other two runs.
60' ... 2.427 ..... 2.394
330' ... 6.592 ..... 6.629
1/8 ... 10.059 ..... 10.098
MPH ... 71.11 ..... 71.04
1000 ... 13.018 ..... 13.062
1/4 ... 15.511 ..... 15.587
MPH ... 89.87 ..... ???
I know my 60' times are horrible. Each time I either spun the tires like crazy or bogged the car. Other than that, I wasn't expecting the car to do so horrible. The only thing that makes since right now is that I am choking the **** out of the engine with the stock airbox. Is that a correct assumption or should I start looking elsewhere? All constructive criticism is welcome.

But would you expect 14's from that setup? I thought it would be a little faster. I'm also a little concerned about my boost pattern unless somebody tells me that is normal.

Opinions are like........
I agree, you are choking the engine with the stock airbox but it is engine life insurance.
You also have a light flywheel which makes the launches difficult. And, verts are heavy which doesn't help.
What tires did you use?

I have Continental ContiTouring tires...nothing special. Unfortunately, I forgot to deflate them a little bit until I was getting ready to make my sixth run.
I agree with the engine insurance thing. I don't want to put on my aftermarket intake until I get a boost controller and a cold air box.

I saw put the TID and cone intake on since you have an s-afc. It should give you more boost, but more importantly you should see more constant boost(ie: not dropping down to 5# near redline).
