my car needs alotta help

i just bought this car from my bro for $500, i think its the sport. its an 86 5-sp with the nifty bbs wheels. heres what its doing. it is some times hard to start. sometimes fires right up. sometimes it smokes alot of white smoke. sometimes it doesnt smoke. always it misses(the ehaust pops irratically) there are new plugs. it overheats after running for about 15-20 minutes. i put in a new thermostat, that didnt work. the coolant bubbles if you look down the neck when its running. just a bunch of little things that i can figure myself.

what do i have to do to get it to stop overheating? because of the air in the cooling system, i would think that there is air getting into it from the combustion chamber. any help would be great. i want it to be reliable and run great. if there is more info that you guys need to know then just ask. i will find out. thanks

err avoid cold/short starts... if u can get the car running, just sit there for a bit till the engine goes to med temp and then go... or else u are gonna have a hard time the next time u start up
SOME white smoke is normal...but looks unhealty

Bad Engine

Coolant seals definately. You get bubbles @ start up down from the filler neck. Exaust is coming up the cooling system.

Erratic popping and idle. Your engine is shot and if it aint you still need to rebuild the engine with the coolant seals popped.
