my car is dead
wussup guys? i have an 87 gxl and friday................i got rearended. . the insurance peeps of the guy that hit me haven't come yet but i'm almost certain that they're gonna total it. i love my car. but i know the blue book value isn't high at all. i know it can be fixed. its the left rear thats smashed. to fix it i'll have to get practically the whole exterior rear end off another car. i can fix it myself if they give me enough cash for the parts. i don't wanna lose my baby...........................what should i do???????

You could take the money and buy it back. Only bummer is it will have a salvage title on it. And will the money that they give you be enough to fix it and still have some cash left over? Just a thought .

Ok, heres what i think you should do. Prove all the upgrades exist and make em pay for it all. Buy the car back for the 500 dollars. Buy another 7, 86-88 to keep it simple preferably blown motor (under 1K, there's 3 for sale around me that are 500-800 dollars....) Swap over working parts. Difference you can buy more parts/restore/upgrade the newer body car!

Rear-Ended
Sorry to hear about youyr misshap !!!!
I`m a retired autobody man and i`ll give you the scoop !!
If it happened to me, I`d follow Josepi`s advice !!!
I`ve "clipped", "sectioned", Many unibody cars in my time, and the truth is that , "done properly", It`s a great way to go. The problem is knowing someone that can do it properly !!! Also the value of the car is just not there. Just find a nice car with a blown motor and change your parts over, it`s quicker and cheaper in the long run !!!!
