is my brake caliper rebuildable?
i noticed thay my rear right caliper will not push back into the bore while doing a pad replacement. i think some part of the park brake mechanism inside the caliper failed and jammed the piston because there are no signs of rust or seal failure. is there any way i can unjam the piston without destroying the caliper or needing to replace it. im kinda broke and dont want to have to buy a new caliper unless its absolutely necissary.

Don't know how you made out trying to turn the piston in, but the "rust" that has caused the piston to stick will not be visble. It's behind the seal and inside the bore where the piston is supposed to turn. If you find it indeed needs to rebuilt, yes it can be done. The rears are tricky, that why most suggest to buy rebuilt calipers.

if you can't get it turned in with a pair of needle nose pliers or something similar, they make a socket attachment that has grooves on it to fit the piston head. you can pick one up at your local auto parts store.

Good that you figured it out. Anyway, I agree, I would not bother rebuilding the caliper. They are reasonably priced at your local autoparts store. eg. Napa, etc. Do not even ask what they cost from Mazda.
