i dont remember the wire that powers it off hand anymore, its either pink, or light with a dark stripe, dont sware by my words, to be safe until you can afford a new alarm just pull the connection harness out.

(edit) if your car wont start when you unplug it, just plug it in again

year, model?

Did you unlock the door with the Key in the door from the outside? That is how you disarm the factory alarm.

Most of the time if the factory alarm is false triggering, it is either you have a leak in the rear or the latch switch on the door (the thing you lock and unlock the door from the inside with) is out of adjustment or not fully closed.

I would avoid the information that blwn rtr 89' posted as what he has shown is to disconnect the CPU (body computer). If you have a 86-88, disconnecting the CPU would do nothing except kill your horn, brake lights, turn signals, etc, as the CPU has nothing to do with the security system, and if you have a 89-95 then disconnecting the CPU also kills other features of the car, including door and light warnings, headlights on some models, turn signals, etc.

Also make sure that the problem really is the factory alarm. The factory system is very very reliable, and seldom has problems, while an aftermarket system often will have problems related to the installation.

icemark... thank you, for starters

its a 91 n/a.. not to for sure of the trim... it does have a sunroof..

yes, it is for sure the factory alarm. The car has been repainted and the door handle sometimes sticks, but i make sure that it hasnt stuck everytime i close the door.

i just cant figure out what is triggering it..

(also check out my post in introductions)

thanks Chase

well as far as triggering... again the most common triggers are from the door latch and the trunk.

So does the hatch leak? Is there water at the inside of the seals?

If not, then it is probably the door latch switches.

I am assuming that you can disarm the alarm by unlocking the door with the key?

On my 88 gxl the factory alrarm has 3 settings. My alarm used to go off all the time due to wind or loud exhaust. The switch is located underneath the center console. Try setting it to the low switch and see what happens.

on both of my TII's at times it is difficult to latch both latches for the hatch by merely just shutting the hatch. it requires one to press down on each side after closing the hatch to make sure each side is latched. it may be possible that one side is not latching properly but enough that the alarm cpu sees that both sides of the hatch are shut and latched and allows the system to arm. over a sitting period, one side of the hatch may work a smidge loose, breaking contact and setting the alarm off. just a suggestion here. check those, remove and clean your door switches and let us know what you find.
