Question Mustang Wheel Question

I was thinking about getting some 17x8" mustang wheels for my car and I was wondering what size of tire doesn't rub on the front fender (without rolling the fenders). I will be taking it to the track so no rubbing is acceptable. I know that 225 is about as wide as you can go, but does the different offset of the wheels make that rub too? Also does anyone know the weight of the 94-95 or the 96-97 cobra wheels? I was hoping to be able to use a 235 or so but I remember hearing someone say that those rubbed on the track. Any experience with these wheels will be greatly appreciated.

If anything the 32mm offset on the Mustang rims will prevent it from rubbing the inner fender. On the track (when OFF the track ) you can run into a problem where the lip of your fender cuts into the tire.

I think 235s will fit. IMO the biggest problem is the aspect ratio in the case of these rims. I'm running shorter than stock to prevent the above mentioned problem. Stock Mustang tire diameter is taller than stock for a FC.

i have 235/40/17 on the front... stupify sold me his rims. i have stock susp.(so far) and there is NO rubbing.

i should have pics up by the end of next week... they look good

snrub is right about the ratio. the stock mustangs is 45... go with 40 and you should be fine. also the offset is perfect for stang wheels with out cars.

I know the 17" GT rims are quiet good all things considered.

Thanks, when you think about it a 17x8" wheel that's about 20 lbs isn't that bad, when you consider that the stock ones (15x6") are about 15lbs. So 5 extra pounds of wheel for an additional 2 inches in each direction is good, and it's offset by using lighter tires (less sidewall). has anyone ever taken the mustang wheels out on the track? I'd be interested to know what sizes got no rubbing. I'd be going to something like a 235/40/17 or a 225/45/17, depending on what rubs.

Does anyone know which of the mustang wheels is lightest, as I've also heard of weights from 17-26 lbs.

HUH?? I had 99 mustang Gt wheels on my car. I never had 3000gt wheels. But what are you talking about they all have the gay x? The pictures were uploaded a while ago so they might not still be up anymore.

also I had my car lowered a inch and the front wheels stuck out of the fender just a little bit. It did scrape the fender a lot. Just going straight over a bump it would scrape. When you tried to turn hard yeah that wasn't good. If you lower your car make sure you get smaller tires then 245/45/17.

Can anyone say for sure if 225/45/17's or 235/40/17's on the mustang wheels (17x8" ~ 32 offset) will rub or not during very hard cornering and braking?

Since no one seems to be able to say for sure whether the tires will rub, where do the stock mustang tires rub? Is it that the tread rubs on the ffender lip, or is it that the tire rubs on the inside of the fender when the wheel is tucked up inside?

I run 235/40/17 r and 215/40/17 up front and i do not rub. I run Velox VX-K's but remember with a NA you will feel the difference in performance when you put them on. Stick with 225 in the back and 215 on the front and you wont rub
