Which muffler/presilencer to get for a loud TII
I need some help deciding which high flow muffler to get to replace straight pipe on my corksports exhaust. I'm looking for 3" in/out with no offset.
Since it will be going on my s4 TII I suppose I need a straight through design for minimal backpressure.
People've told me to get borla xr-1, but I also heard it's kinda loud and pricey. I'm considering getting a Dynomax Ultra flo welded. It's much cheaper and supposed to be quiter than borla. Any other suggestions, comments?
I hate how loud my exhaust is now and since corksports cancelled their presilence I need to find a good muffler for my custom application asap

Magnaflow round mufflers. I bought a 4" round magnaflow muffler, 2.5" in/out, it was 20" overall length and I had an exhaust shop cut it down to the size of the stock cat (17.5") with flanges welded on. Fit perfectly, and decreased the sound INCREDIBLY.

I personally have a Borla Xr-1 presilencer, but if you want something better.

Pricey but good. IF you want something that flow, muffles, and lasts, for the rotary it won't be cheap. Some Dynaflow's, Magnaflow, and flowmaster will work great, but may burn up in 3 months or less. So do your homework on the sound dampening media. No fiberglass.

I have a set of magnaflows I'm about to put on my 87 TII. I hate the Magnaflow round race series...they sound raspy as hell IMHO. The ones I got are part #14256. They are the universal fit ones, polished stainless, and have an 18" body. If you want to quiet down an FC while still having a good deep tone at WOT, this is the way to go from what I've heard. They should be on in the next day or 2, so I'll let you know how they sound.

Ok I'm not sure how much space is available where stock cat used to be, but that's where I'm gonna mount my muffler. Not at the rear so I suppose I must look for oval design. Anyway I looked into magnaflow and they have one product that cought my eye. http://www.magnaflow.com/wideopen.htm
Also Dynomax ultra flo's got straight thru design I might consider.

do you guys might know which one is quiter, better flow?
Fastrotaries.... what is your exhaust setup and how loud is it? Can you point out a website which carries borla presilencers?

Let me know how they sound. Thing is you are putting two while I'll only have one. Might be a big difference

You don't need an oval, look at the magnaflow "Round" series mufflers. Like, 4" round, 6" round, 7" round. I used a 4" round, 20" overall length that was cut down to the stock cat size with flanges welded on. The stock cat is 17.5" so that's what I had my muffler sized to.

Hehe yah, that neighbor kept bitching and complaining, so my parents asked me to try and fix it. That's when I added the magnaflow 4" round muffler instead of the test pipe.

It made it MUCH MUCH quieter than it was before. My friend can only hear me coming to his house for about a minute now, instead of about 5 like it was before

Those aren't stock catalytic converter length. They are meant to mate up with the header (n/a) or the turbo back system (TII). IIRC they are somewhere around 20" long.
