They are very good, and usually there is nothing to be gained by swapping to aftermarket coils.
For CDI install:

if you want to keep your stock coils (I'm assuming your putting the MSD for leading) then you just need one MSD 6A (cheapest MSD I think). If you want to replace the leading coils then, you would need (from what I understand) 2 MSD 6a Boxes and 2 blaster coils, this is what I have done on my car. Also I did the wiring as on the fc3spro.com and had problems with getting spark on the leading plugs.... theres another way to wire the boxes using the purple and green magnetic pickup wires. A local rx7 guy showed me this and has been running fine since...

If you are headset on replacing your coils, MSD offers a motorcycle twin-post coil that works fine. Simply buy that, and then use one MSD box. Using two CDI's on the leading is a huge waste of coin.
here's some more info:

Again, there is nothing to gain by replacing the stock coils. They are really very good.

From what I have read it is a mod that should be near the end of the list. Only really makes a difference after a whole bunch of other things have been done. Also allows for a bigger gap(thanks Icemark for teaching me that) on the plug, thus maybe giving a little increase in power.
I have the Jacobs Rotary pro pak, and with it running, the motor sounds a lot meaner.
